Parmi les se\u0301ries de l&rsquo;artiste, celle des Grillages est la plus importante en nombre et en varie\u0301te\u0301. L&rsquo;exposition montre un ensemble de Grillages blancs dont deux pie\u0300ces brode\u0301es autour des chiffres 1 et 2 (No.Inv.012 et No.Inv.100), ainsi que deux \u0153uvres de fils de couleurs particulie\u0300rement belles bien qu\u2019endommage\u0301es et re\u0301cemment restaure\u0301es (No.Inv.107 et No.Inv.112). D\u2019apre\u0300s ce que dit Hessie, les grillages blancs sont venus apre\u0300s ceux en couleur : \u00ab Depuis Aline Dallier, je ne fais que des \u00ab Grillages \u00bb en blanc, jamais avec les autres fils. \u00bb Aline Dallier a e\u0301te\u0301 une pionnie\u0300re en France a\u0300 e\u0301crire sur l\u2019art des artistes femmes et a\u0300 les exposer comme a\u0300 la Galerie A.I.R. de NewYork en 1976.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Hessie dit que la forme du grillage provient des cages de poulaillers qu\u2019elle avait confectionne\u0301es dans sa maison d\u2019He\u0301rouval. Il recouvre une forme aux sens multiples et oppose\u0301s, a\u0300 la fois geste minimal de la cellule brode\u0301e et engendrement de l\u2019espace par re\u0301pe\u0301tition, de me\u0302me qu\u2019il exprime a\u0300 la fois la protection du foyer et l\u2019enfermement de la prison. Si les grillages de couleurs e\u0301voquent au sein de sa broderie le langage de la polyphonie, les grillages monochromes blancs sugge\u0300rent la voix unique qui progresse dans un sens line\u0301aire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Le travail sur les Grillages est aussi le fil directeur du portrait de Hessie fait par Mythia Kolesar dans son film de 1974 Survie Transe-perce. Ce film dont l\u2019unique bobine a e\u0301te\u0301 de\u0301te\u0301riore\u0301e par l\u2019humidite\u0301 a e\u0301te\u0301 montre\u0301 pour la premie\u0300re fois le soir du vernissage dans une version restaure\u0301e qui lui redonne la couleur et le son d\u2019origine. L\u2019exposition pre\u0301sente e\u0301galement un ensemble de portraits photos de Mythia Kolesar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A l\u2019occasion de cette exposition, Arnaud Lefebvre tient a\u0300 remercier la famille de Hessie pour sa confiance ainsi que Julie Bonpas pour sa restauration des broderies de Hessie, Bill Brand (BB Optics) pour sa restauration du film de Mythia Kolesar , Ge\u0301rard Galby pour son aide sur les films de Mythia Kolesar et Be\u0301atrice Hatala pour ses photographies de Mythia Kolesar.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>\/\/\/ Press release<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>The Arnaud Lefebvre Gallery is very pleased to have a show of Grids by Hessie. Among the various series of the artist, the Grid is the largest and the most diversified. The show presents a group of white thread Grids including two embroideries bearing the numbers 1 and 2 (No.Inv.012 and No.Inv.100), as well as two colour thread works specially beautiful, although damaged by moisture and recently restored (No.Inv.107 and No.Inv.112). From what Hessie said, the white grids came after the ones in colour : \u201cSince the time of Aline Dallier, I only do white grids, I never use other threads.\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0 Aline Dallier was a French pioneer in writing about and exhibiting Women artists in the 70\u2019s, like the show she curated at the A.I.R. Gallery of New York in 1976.<\/p>\n<p>Hessie recounts that the shape of grid comes from chicken cages she made in her house at He\u0301rouval. It covers multiple and opposite meanings, being both the minimal gesture of the embroidered cell and the generation of space through repetition, as well as expressing both the protection of home and the confinement of jail. In her embroidery, the colour grids evoke the language of polyphony, while the white monochrome grids suggest the single voice that evolves in a horizontal way.<\/p>\n<p>The work on Grids is also at the heart of Hessie\u2019s portrait made by Mythia Kolesar in her 1974 film Survival Trance. The sole reel of this film was deteriorated by moisture and the film will be shown for the first time at the opening in a restored version, with its original colour and sound. The show will also display a group of photo portraits of Mythia Kolesar.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion of this show, Arnaud Lefebvre would like to thank Hessie\u2019s family for their confidence, and also
